It’s almost time for our summer bodies to be ready, and if you are like me, I am so not ready. I used to have so many excuses for not working out and most of them are due to the high costs of gym memberships and other online programs. As I am sure most of you can relate, I don’t have hundreds of extra dollars to spend on getting fit, so I took it upon myself to find the best ways to workout for free from your college dorm room, and I was surprisingly successful!

Pinterest Workouts

You’ve seen them all over Pinterest, and maybe you’ve tried a few, but I found the best way was to find one for arms, one for legs, and one for the core. If you do 2 circuits of each of them, it usually ends up to being about 30 minutes of cardio. I like using Pinterest workouts because there’s a ton of variety (there are literally thousands of these graphics on Pinterest) and it is totally free!

We made a board on Pinterest of our tried and true favorite workouts on the Her Campus Hofstra Pinterest account! Check them out here.

YouTube Channels

This is my second and other favorite way to get a workout in for free because there are hundreds of fitness channels and videos out there on YouTube, but I found some of my favorite channels for trustworthy and FREE workouts!

Utilize your campus

So this might mean you have to *gasp* leave your dorm room, but college campuses are great places to get exercise!

Use your campus recreation center, Hofstra has a great rec center with great fitness classes and cardio machines and weights all for FREE (well it’s in your tuition), so use it since you’ve paid for it already!

Walk or run around your campus. Hofstra has a lot of stairs on campus, so run up and down the stairs, run across the unispan, and get your exercise while appreciating your beautiful campus at no cost.

Sadly, I have found there is no excuse for not getting in shape (besides tacos, always blame the tacos!) when in college because there are so many resources online and on your campus to help you stay fit while on a budget.

Just a Midwest girl exploring the big city.
