How to Transition Your Wardrobe From Winter to Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

For some, winter is their favorite season for fashion. What can be better than chunky, knit sweaters and furry boots, right? But if you’re like me, you enjoy winter fashion, but you love spring fashion even more. Spring is that perfect season when the temperature is just right to rock everything from a sundress to jeans and a light sweater. With true spring weather just around the corner, is your wardrobe ready to make the switch? Here are some tips to get you ready for spring!

The best part about winter fashion is layering, so for spring you should layer lightly. Swap out your long-sleeve shirts for tank tops and trade your heavy sweaters for flowy cardigans.

Itching to wear those sundresses that have been sitting in the back of your closet for months? Wear them with ballet flats for a true spring look, but if it’s still a bit chilly out, pair them with tights, booties and a cute jacket to keep you warm.

Winter is known for it’s neutral colors, so don’t be afraid to break out those bold hues for spring! Add a pop of color to your outfit with a bright jacket.

For those odd days when it’s warm enough to wear shorts, but not quite warm enough to pair them with a tank top, a loose long-sleeve shirt can help balance yourself out.

Last but not least, there are really no rules in fashion. Wear what you love and wear what makes you feel good! Spring is a great season to try out different combinations of colors and patterns. Want to switch up your style and try something new? Go for it! Money saving tip: shop your closet before you shop stores! See what you have first and try to figure out new ways to style what you already have to work with (Google and Pinterest are your friends!).
