How to Decorate Your Dorm for the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

The holidays are such a fun time to decorate the dorm room especially with your roomies so these are some ways to decorate for the season…

1. Cover your dorm door with wrapping paper! A couple of my friends did this for their door freshman year. They choose winter wrapping paper with snowmen and snowflakes rather than Christmas wrapping paper. That way they were able to keep it up longer until the end of the winter season.

2. Make paper snowflakes! Another time during my freshman year, I helped make paper snowflakes for my friends’ dorm room and they hung them up all around their lounge. It was like a winter wonderland!

3. Hang stockings! Get stockings for each of your roomies with their first name letter on it and hang them above the futon!

4. Hang up some Christmas lights! I hung up my Christmas lights in my room during the holiday season freshman year and I liked them so much that they have been hanging in my side of the room throughout my college years.

5. Ornaments! Add a bunch of ornaments around the dorm room either hanging them up or putting them in a vase or bowl!

6. Get a tree! I have a small tree that I bring to college during the holiday season. It is really small but it adds the Christmas spirit in the lounge!

7. Hang up mistletoe! Place mistletoe over your door for a fun and flirty way to greet your friends.

8. Blast Christmas Music! And enjoy decorating for the holiday season with your friends!
