Name: Matt Wooden
Major: Video/TV Production
Why did you originally choose to come to Hofstra?
I chose Hofstra because it’s close enough to home (being New York City), they had the major I wanted and they offered me the most in scholarship money.
What activities are you involved in at Hofstra?
I’m an RA, a student aid at the Film and Media Library, a volunteer pride guide with admissions, I work on all the shows that Hofstra television has to offer and I’m the co-producer of the 10th Annual Max Kolb Telethon.
What made you become a part of the Max Kolb Telethon?
I decided to become part of the Max Kolb Telethon because it’s a great tradition in Dempster and it’s a huge undertaking. This is probably the last time I have this much creative control of a show in who knows how long. The fact that the show helps others is something I can take pride in and is an added bonus for me.
What is the telethon for?
The telethon honors Max Kolb who was tragically taken from the world in 2001. To do this, we celebrate his major, Film, and raise money for a scholarship in his name that goes to junior and senior film students to offset the costs of their film projects.
Plans after graduation?
I wish I had some. Right now, I’m planning on moving in back with my parents. I’m going to be in New York for a few more years, and then I might test out the waters in LA.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is doing what I’m doing right now which is producing a television show. I’d love to direct someday also. If I can someday do either, I’ll be extremely happy.
What will you miss most about Hofstra?
I’ll miss everything from not being able to see friends as much to not living in Dempster Hall for most of my time.
