Beauty Blog: Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

I love eye shadow. I feel like I just don’t look right if I’m not wearing eye shadow. My thing with that though is I will only wear neutral colors like greys, browns, etc… Naturally, Urban Decay’s Naked line is perfect for me.

My friends had a few of the palettes so I tried them before I actually purchased them and found that I was beyond obsessed with the Naked 2 palette. Although I’m a big fan of matte colors and this palette does not have much matte eye shadow, it’s still a fantastic palette. You can find colors to wear during the day to class and then switch your look up no problem in 10 minutes with other colors in the palette.

The Naked 1 and 3 palettes never appealed to me because of the fact that the first palette was more cool colors and the third palette was a lot of pink warm colors, and I enjoy the nude colors.

I do also have the Naked Basics 2 palette. I dropped it and broke one of the colors which absolutely crushed me, but other than that this is an everyday palette for me. The colors are all nude and they are all matte so it’s a staple in my collection. These Naked Basics pallets are best for everyday use because they are matte and are such simple colors.

I find that overall these shadows blend pretty well with the right brush and if you prime your eyes first they will literally stay on all day.

The Naked buzz lately has been all about the Naked Smokey palette and like every other UD fan I am SO excited. This palette has a few mattes and a few glamour colors and it’s all neutrals. I absolutely love it. There are nine new colors, as well as three rare colors from UD. The way this palette is organized is also a lifesaver because the mattes are placed at one end in color order and the shimmers are on the other end in color order, the lighter colors on the ends of the palette and the darker colors meeting in the middle. It just hit stores this past summer and has already been a fan favorite.

Rant aside, the Naked collection is full of great palettes for anyone looking for some new eye shadows and they’re all priced between 30$-55$ so they really aren’t too pricey. Pair it with urban decay priming potion and you’re set for the day.
