When it comes to packing, there is hardly enough room in a suitcase to bring your whole closet alongside toiletries and the extra amenities, so you have to improvise! The struggle between wanting to look cute everyday and wanting to stay under the luggage weight limit to avoid the $50 charge is a battle us girls go through quite often. However, with a few tweaks and the right simplification, it can all be done.

To help you out here’s a list of looks that can easily be interchanged and overlapped!

Casual

This is a mixture between your flight outfit and the one you plan on wearing the first day. Keep it casual and feel out your new destination before you decide what to wear for the proceeding days!

Items for success:

  • Basic flowy tee
  • Loose comfy cardigan
  • High waisted shorts (as simple or as Etsy’d out as you please)
  • High or low converse

Adventurous

For all my outdoorsy girls or for those of you going places with a rough terrain, it’s always a good idea to stock an outfit that keeps you comfortable but also one that can keep up with your racing schedule!

Items for success:

  • Split back top
  • Utility jacket
  • Mini backpack
  • A nice pair of boots to keep you trekking!

Girly

There are some days in travel where all you want to do is grab some tapas, sit by the water or enjoy a nice park! This outfit will make you appear just as classy as if you are sipping on a glass of wine.

Items for success:

  • Floral romper – layered with cardigan from casual outfit
  • Tote bag
  • Braided sandals

Edgy

Time to switch it up! Whether you’re in one of the fashion capitals of the world or not, it’s always a good idea to have an outfit that makes a statement.

Items for success:

  • Leather jacket
  • Maroon tank
  • Athletic leggings
  • Maroon lipstick

Going Out

Why not? If you’re over 21 or traveling outside of the U.S. where you’re allowed a fun night at a bar not filled with college kids, take the chance and have fun!

Items for success:

  • Lace-up top
  • Suede skirt
  • Black tights
  • Black booties

The best thing about these outfits is they can be mix matched and thus provide you with a wide variety for your trip – no excuses to be over the luggage weight limit here!

Hofstra '17 Hofstra Chapter Vice President (December '16 - December '17) From a young age Naledi has been obsessed with all things pop culture and entertainment. Through writing for Her Campus she has been able to reach a large audience of badass collegiate women who share her crazy passions as well. Beyond Her Campus Naledi is IN LOVE with Hofstra. Her favorite part? The school of comm for allowing her to branch out and get a real dip into the real world prior to graduating. Additionally Naledi is one of those classic people who studies abroad in the spring of 2016 and won't ever stop talking about it! Her best advice? Go and see the world kids and fall in love with your major like Ali and Noah from the Notebook fell in love with each other.
Coming from a small town in Connecticut, Hailey is a recent graduate of Hofstra University.
