8 Movies Coming up in 2015

With a week of classes in the bag and routines being set, off-campus get-aways are always beloved especially when it means hitting the movie theater down the road. Whether a car, bike, or your own two feet transport you down Lancaster Avenue to the movie theater, here are some great titles coming out you should think about going to in order to forget about work for awhile and enjoy:

 

1. Everest

On September 18, this PG-13 rated movie captures the essence of the wild outdoors as two climbers, played by Jason Clarke and Josh Brolin, try to summit the top of the infamous Mt. Everest in the last leg of their journey. This movie is for adventure-seekers, and for adrenaline who crave the thrill to push oneself past physical and psychological limits. Bring a sweater for just thinking about what these climbers do bring chills!

 

2. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

This sequel follows “The Maze Runner” also coming out on September 18th. Dylan O’Brien stars as the character Thomas, fighting against the alleged organization known as WCKD with his other companions, known as Gladers. If you haven’t seen “The Maze Runner,” make sure you do so before watching this sequel. These movies follow the book series so make sure you take some time to read the books too for they are definitely worth the read if you enjoy science fiction and adventure novels.

3. The Intern

Coming out on September 25, Nancy Meyers directs this comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. This movie certainly looks like one that is going to be all laughs and a great one to celebrate plowing through a lot of work or finishing an exam. 

4. The Martian

October 2 “The Martian” releases in theaters. A science fiction movie about an astronaut’s journey to Mars that goes wrong when he is accidentally left behind by his fellow crew mates after a crazy storm. Matt Damon stars as the astronaut Mark Watney that is left behind to fend for himself in a battle of will and survival against all odds. This movie looks inspirational drawing upon self-sacrifice and the power of determination to bring oneself home.

5. Steve Jobs

Another movie on Steve Jobs is coming to theaters on October 9th. Focusing on the life and work of Jobs, this biographical movie draws on the academic interests of viewers while giving viewers a glimpse into his life. A sure see for movie buffs who enjoy biographies and find the technological work of Jobs a curious topic. 

6. Bridge of Spies

A thriller PG-13 rated historical movie based on spies during the Cold War era, Tom Hanks stars under the direction of Steven Spielberg. Drawing upon aspects of the Cold War from the CIA to prisoners of war, this movie is a must-see for history buffs and Tom Hanks fans alike. “Bridge of Spies” shows in theaters starting on October 16th.

7. Burnt

Bradley Cooper stars in “Burnt,” a comedy and drama film based on a chef in Paris trying to start his own restaurant and boost his reputation. The movie premiers on October 23rd, and sounds like a light-hearted film to take a step back and appreciate the amount of work chefs and other restaurant owners put into the food we enjoy everyday.

8. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost’s Dimension

For those who enjoy scary movies, this movie is one for you coming out on October 23rd also. Directed by Gregory Plotkin, the horror film follows the classic plot of a family moving into a new home and discovering strange happenings ever since they moved in. Rated R, certainly hit the theaters if you have enjoyed past Paranormal films or not want to sleep at night.
