As a child, my favorite story was about a girl who looked out her window at the house across the street and was enamored by the dazzling brilliance of the light and life reflected in its windows. She lamented that she could not be in that house, that her windows did not shine so brightly. Only when she permanently moved away did she really look back at her house and realize that it shined even brighter.
Goal for the new (last!) year – take time to enjoy the view, but always appreciate the home you come from.
