Six Things to Do in Boston Before Leaving for Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Harvard chapter.

If you’re anything like me, there were a lot of things you said you’d do this year in Boston, but soon days turned into weeks and weeks into months and there was simply far too much to do at Harvard to check off items from your Boston bucket list. But with the weather getting warmer and reading period approaching, you’ve got one last chance to unleash your inner tourist and cram things from this list into your schedule harder than you’ll cram for that Econ exam.

1. Visit Boston Common. If you make it to one stop on the Freedom Trail, let it be the Boston Common. There isn’t a prettier spot in the city.

2. The Old North Church. Revel in the history of the American Revolution! Plus you’ll be forced to walk through the North End to get there, which means…

3. Mike’s Pastry. Try to go at a time when there isn’t a line of tourists out the door. Early afternoon often works well.

4. The Institute of Contemporary Art. Boasting gorgeous architecture and amazing views of the city, the ICA is free and has a relatively small collection (you could probably explore every last corner in an hour or two), making it the perfect afternoon outing.

5. And while you’re in the Seaport District, grab a bowl of New England Clam Chowder.

6. Hit up the Museum of Fine Arts. Just like the ICA, admission is free. Plus, it’ll be so fun to tell your friends and family back home how well-versed in art you are and what a sophisticated college student you are becoming.
