Being ‘wifey type’ is like being a pair of Levi’s in a stack of the $7.90 Forever 21 jeans you’re a rare catch babe! In a world where everyone is like denim, you need to have a certain material to be considered “wifey” type. Let’s start with the basics of every wife!
Men expect a woman to be a wife which to most men means cooking, cleaning, nurturing and pretty much taking care of everything. This is the stereotypical Barbie doll wife from the 60s and it’s disgusting. “A wife should be the woman you love, her morals, and strengths should challenge you to be better for her.” said Robel Eskinder, a second year Nursing major from California. By being your complete self and a great loving girlfriend you will be ‘wifey type’ despite the traditional aspects of a wife.
‘Wifey type’ isn’t enough! We all know the dramatic Hampton women to men ratio, leaving men to have multiple options not including you. As many young men approach Hampton University it’s like a kid and the candy store; they want to try every flavor! Unfortunately, that leaves many women butthurt over men who simply can’t commit. Also remember we are in college and some don’t want to settle down just yet.
Girl, don’t feel appalled by this! Their are some loyal guys that will commit, even though it may be very rare to find. The guys that are willing to settle down with one woman are called the “hubby” type. Combining both wifey and hubby types can result in an amazing relationship and eventually that marvelous four letter word L-O-V-E!
This so far sounds pretty peachy, but remember every peach isn’t ripe! However, in some cases of relationships there is another woman that tries to smuggle her way in between relationships – this is the side chick! Often the other woman is hated by everyone, but what really is behind her motives or heart?
What’s this side chick epidemic? Is it the influence of the “STEAL HER MAN STEAL HER MAN” song? Men claim they want wifey material yet, settle and search for side chick material which is just woman not ready for commitment and soul searching for oneself. Some women like to be the side chick for power, and some women are in love and on some occasions the other woman doesn’t even know.
“Ultimately the problem is men look for any girl that is willing to entertain them versus someone to challenge and motivate them. If you are looking for wifey type then you need to evaluate who you settle for you can’t just settle for anyone!” said Brianna Smith, a two year girlfriend, from Las Vegas.
The other woman mentality can be seen as a thirst quenching troublemaker in search of snatching your man. Inaccurate, these woman aren’t stealing what’s theirs because if your man has been ‘stolen’ he truly wasn’t yours to begin with. Instead of being angry at the other woman be mad at the man who invited her in the first place. As women we need to stop tearing each other down instead we need to come to a resolution for peace for both parties.
The journey to wifehood is not easy, but by keeping those amazing qualities about yourself in mind and in your relationship you find your fairytale ending!
