Everyone has a list of things that they like to do to get in the Halloween spirit, like watching scary movies or going to apple orchards. Here is a list of food and drinks that are perfect if you’re living in a dorm/apartment and you want to get pumped about the holiday.

Caramel Apples:

Caramel Apples are a classic fall treat. They’re perfect to make yourself after a fun day of apple picking, or you can always pick up a bunch from the store! They’re great with nuts sprinkled on top. I’ve even seen some decorated with M&Ms.

Hot Chocolate:

It can get pretty cold towards the end of October, and what’s better to warm you up than a nice cup of hot chocolate? Starbucks makes some good hot chocolate, but you can also pick up a few packets of the instant kind that tastes just as good. You can make it right in your dorm, customized with whipped cream, marshmallows or even mint if you’re creative.

Pumpkin Seeds:

Carving pumpkins is something that a lot of people do during the month of October, and a lot of people tend to waste the seeds when scraping the “guts” out of the pumpkin. I’m here to tell you that you should roast the seeds instead of just throwing them out! They are a great (and healthy!) alternative to some of the sweeter snacks that are commonly consumed around Halloween. You can even find pumpkin seeds in a lot of stores if you don’t have access to an oven in your dorm/apartment!

Apple Cider:

Apple cider is another great treat to enjoy on or around Halloween. You can drink it hot or cold, and it’s really refreshing on a crisp fall day. I personally love apple juice, but hot apple cider with a little bit of whipped cream on top is so much better. Pretty much every grocery store sells apple cider in a half gallon container this time of year, and that would fit perfectly in a mini fridge.

Chili:

If you’re lucky enough to have a stove on your floor or in your apartment, you could make a simple chili recipe. There are even crockpot chili recipes that don’t take a lot of effort to prepare, and it can cook all day while you’re in class. Growing up it was a tradition at my house that every Halloween my mom would make a big pot of her famous chili. It’s the perfect food to eat before any Halloween activity because it fills you up and it warms you up.

Candy:

When you’re in college you don’t have to get Halloween candy to give out to trick-or-treaters, you can get a bag to enjoy yourself! Candy is the quintessential Halloween food, and that’ll get you in the Halloween spirit pretty quickly. It’s not that expensive to grab a bag of your favorite fun size candy, and having one or two can be a great treat after a long day of class.

If you’re a huge fan of Halloween like I am, you’ll want to do as many things as possible to get in the spirit – even if you’re living in a dorm!
