How to Get Work Done in the Sun

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamilton chapter.

We all know finals week is upon us, and the work seems even worse without the tundra weather and with the sun out to play.  Who wants to sit inside and do work when the sun is finally shining after 7 months of darkness? No one, thats who!  So is it possible to get your work done successfully AND enjoy the great weather? Contrary to what most people think, it can be done! Here are some tips on how to do it!

1. Make deals with yourself:  Even if you have to write it out on paper or put a reminder in your phone, make a strict deal with yourself.  When you are outside, tell yourself that you will do “X” amount of time of work, and then take a break and relax for a little.  This way you will not get distracted often.

2. Reward yourself: If you cannot seem to concentrate outside, do your work inside. However, don’t stay cooped up all day.  Make sure you get outside and take a walk or something else outside that will give you your outside “fix”.

3. Exercise: Finals are very stressful and what better way to be productive when not studying than exercising?  Exercise is proven to increase a persons’ endorphins, a hormone that makes a person happy.  Go for a run outside, or do some yoga, or even walk to the gym!  Whatever you do, make sure you get outside for at least an hour.
