46 Peaks

Every year since 1995 the Hamilton Outing Club has sent out Hamilton students to summit as many of the 46 peaks as possible. Last year, for the first time, Hamilton College students climbed each of the 46 peaks over the course of one weekend. This year we were once again successful in our 46 peaks quest!

The 46 peaks are the High Peaks located in the Adirondack region of New York that are higher than 4,000 feet. 21 trips went out into the Adirondacks between Friday, September 25th and Sunday, September 27th. Students participated in day hikes or overnights and many groups climbed multiple peaks. One group hiked a grand total of 8 of the 46 peaks! The Hamilton Outing Club provided students with gear ranging from hiking boots to headlamps to tents as well as food including, of course, pounds of cheese.

The weather was beautiful and the hikes provided a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors while getting some exercise and making new friends. If you haven’t already, sign up for the Hamilton Outing Club, come to the Glen House during Open Hours Mondays and Thursdays from 7-9pm, and participate in HOC trips to take advantage of the spectacular fall weather!
