Yoga Moves To Do After Stuffing Your Face on Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gustavus chapter.

The holiday is approaching where we all say thanks for all of the wonderful things in our life, spend time with our families, and of course, stuff our faces with tons of delicious food. As the feast comes upon us, make sure to let go of the guilt and be thankful for the gifts of food and being together with your family. Eat as much turkey, pumpkin pie, and mashed potatoes piled with gravy as you want.

After the feast you will most likely be feeling quite full, so remember to take a deep breath or two and turn to these yoga moves to feel relief and care for your digestive health!

1. Wind Relieving Pose

This pose is great for helping to release unwanted and toxic gases from your digestive system. When you remove this air, it helps to improve the efficiency and quality of your digestive system. After a big meal it definitely will help you feel less bloated!

2. Garland Pose

This pose assists you in releasing what needs to come out. It is a way to help your body let itself go, naturally. It stretches your ankle, groin, and back torso. You should hold this pose for 30 seconds to 1 minute, inhale, and then move into your next pose.

3. Seated Cat Cow Pose

This pose stretches the muscles at the hips, back, and abdomen. After a big meal, this pose helps loosen things up as it is an internal massage that stretches and contracts your abdominals.

4. Seated Heart Opener Pose

This is a great pose for when you’ve eaten too much. It will stretch out your belly and ease stomach cramps and bloating.

5. Child’s Pose

A basic just “feel good” pose! You can never go wrong with it. Try to stay in this pose for five breaths or more, as it is a relaxing stretch.
