What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gustavus chapter.

This time of year, so many things are going on that it can sometimes be a challenge to quiet your mind and focus on yourself and your own personal goals. However, there is no better time for self-reflection than when a new year is about to begin. No matter how 2016 went for you, remember that 2017 is a whole new year full of countless new possibilities! So, in honor of this holiday season and the kickoff of 2017, the Her Campus Gustavus team invites you to join us in creating new year’s resolutions that are sure to make 2017 the best year yet!

Sarah Wright, Junior: I want to dedicate 30 minutes every day to working out.

Kjersten Piper, Junior: I want 2017 to be the year that I break outside of my comfort zone. I’m a homebody and I rarely do anything that challenges that. I’ll be studying abroad in January and I’m also hoping to get an internship away from home in the summer, whether that be in Minneapolis, Boston, or NYC. Hopefully, through those experiences I learn to live a little more and explore more of what the world has to offer.

Kristi Manning, Sophomore: I want to pay more attention to what is going on around the world. Being busy with college life, I don’t read or watch the news very often, and I feel like I don’t always know what is going on around the world or even in the United States. So my resolution for 2017 is to read and watch the news every day, that way I can become educated and aware of our ever changing world.

Katie Allen, Junior: My resolution for 2017 is to take more risks. I want to challenge myself to go for things that seem out of reach. I want to surprise myself!

Yesenia Hidalgo, Sophomore: I want to stop stressing about things I can’t control and focus on the ones I can control. I also want to stop procrastinating on my homework.

Brenna Tuttrup, Sophomore: I want to stop looking to other people for my happiness and start creating my own happiness through self-confidence and self-love.
