Every year, like most individuals, I embark on a massive “spring cleaning” venture, specifically in regards to my closet, in order to make room for new and trendy pieces. Although I tend to clear out and donate many clothing items, there are a few staples that can always be found in my wardrobe no matter what. Although trends and fads are fun, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite, simple clothing pieces that are undoubtedly the foundation of any classic wardrobe.

1. Basic T-shirt

I always make sure to have a few plain t-shirts in an abundance of colors. T-shirts are always great layering pieces, can be dressed up or down, and are probably the most versatile pieces in my closet!

2. White Sneakers

Nothing beats a classic white sneaker which can be paired with your denim, a casual pair of leggings, or even a dress for a more laid-back vibe. Easy, comfy and stylish!

3. Denim Jacket

A classic denim jacket, without any rips or holes, should be in everyone’s wardrobe, especially for the upcoming spring and summer months. A denim jacket is the perfect lightweight piece of outerwear!

4. Classic Belt

Nobody likes having to pull up their pants every few minutes, so make sure to get yourself a great belt in a neutral tone.

Everyone needs a perfect pair of jeans, and with the abundance of cuts, washes and styles of denim, there is something for everyone!

6. Strappy Sandals

Invest in a great pair of sandals this season, in black or nude, and you will never have to worry about struggling to find the perfect heels to compliment your outfit!

Although these items can be found in most individual’s closets, if you are anything like me and wear your staples multiple times a week, they probably need a refresh. Though it is always important to have a few go-to staples in your wardrobe, have fun with your style, and make these basic pieces your own!
