Last week, I sat down with campus filmmaker, Kevon to discuss his upcoming film, Limits. If you love social media, you may want to add this film to your must-see list.

HC: So, tell me a little bit more about your film?

KP: It’s a romantic comedy about a guy named Marcus, his love life, and social life. Marcus is a 22-year-old overly expressive recent college graduate beginning to realize that the people around him are bound to a false reality. His girlfriend, friends and even the random people he comes across aren’t able to live in the moment. They live life through their phones and social networks such as Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. He takes note of this when he notices his relationship is falling apart with his girlfriend. Marcus feels as if he has it all figured out, only to be met with the discernible truth that he himself is a part of the problem.

HC: What inspired you to create this?

KP: The time we’re living in. Just looking around I noticed the disconnect between people and I wanted to make a relatable story to have people realize this isn’t the way things should be. After attending the Atlanta Film Festival, I got really inspired by everyone coming around and collaborating. It gave me inspiration to write something that I could connect with myself and have other people connect with. I wanted to display what it’s like building and maintaining relationships in the social media era.

HC: What do you hope people take away from Limits?

KP: I want people to know where they stand and how social media is affecting the decisions they’re making and if they’re paying attention to others.

HC: What did you enjoy the most about the film making process?

KP: Writing is a challenge, but it’s fun. I really enjoy the entire process.

HC: When can we expect to see Limits?

KP: Sometime in March

HC: What are your plans after graduation?

KP: I would like to be involved with the Atlanta Film Festival or a film society. Just like every writer’s dream, I would want to get picked up by someone else or have people pay attention to my work. I also hope to have my own series and maybe more movies.
