How To Release Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GSU chapter.

Life can be stressful whether you have a job or go to school and it can be even more stressful if you are doing both simultaneously. School for some is like a job within itself with all of the assignments and due dates that you try to keep up with. But having a job and having to do those school assignments in a timely manner can really get to your psyche, which is one aspect that should always be in tact. However, if you are on the brink of throwing in the towel, don’t! There are so many  ways to get rid of that weight and once you let go of it you will see that you are in better health physically and mentally. Tranquillity is always important to get through your days. To find out how to relieve that stress, keep on reading our tips below!

1.  Plan your time out wisely. You should always have a planner to plot down your day to day activities. You should write down your daily plans every night or even a week to two weeks prior to when you know that your plans are set in stone. It is good to keep track of your daily schedule for the days to come ahead. Making sure you are on top of everything you have to do can make less stress in your life. You can plan your time with your phone or be old school and plan out your schedule in a regular planner. Anything you want to remember can be planned out.

2.  Take moments for yourself and make sure that you are focusing only on yourself sometimes. Take yourself out to dinner or go to a movie or splurge on yourself or do all of these wonderful things because you deserve it. Sleep is so important and will help a lot with your stress so be sure to get plenty of rest. Many times having so much stress can be from lack of sleep and not having enough time to rest! If your schedule is always so busy always try set aside time to make sure you get enough every night.

3.  Go get yourself a massage to relax the muscles in your body. A relaxing massage can just relieve mounting stress that you have had built up in the past, and present stress you are adding on. If your body muscles feel relaxed so will your mental muscles. Make sure you are doing things for yourself, no matter if it is big or small. These things can always help manage whatever battles you are fighting. Whenever you feel stress coming on, try to take a few moments to do some breathing exercises. This is a form of practicing that mindfulness that everyone talks about! During this exercise you should take however long you feel is needed for you to calm your body. Yoga alongside of mindfulness is also an excellent source of relieving that stress because you get to work on your breathing and relax your muscles at the same time. Can we say winning?

4.  Stay positive more than you are negative. Positivity is an important key to have in your life and adopting that type of thinking can get you so much further. If you always try to keep a positive mind you will notice a change somewhere in your life. Your days will go by smoother and you will feel less stressed out. I know trying to stay positive can be a hard task to accomplish but you will feel so much better once you give it a try and stick with it. No, it may not seem like being positive is a big help to being stressed out but it can be helpful in the long run when you notice how much more organized, calm and relaxed you are.
