5 Lifesaving Apps for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GSU chapter.

We all know how busy our lives can get. Between classes, campus involvement, studying, family, relationships, friends, partying, and don’t forget working, it’s amazing how much we can juggle! We’re a busy generation and we are always looking for ways to optimize every minute as useful. With being a part of the digital age, writing things down has become dated for most of us when it comes to keeping track of our hectic schedules, so we keep almost everything in our phones, tablets and laptops. Thanks to all of these wonderful gadgets, we have access to apps that help with all of our obligations, and we have 5 apps you absolutely need!

iStudiez – This app is a must for every college student. You can input all of your college courses for the semester into this app and all the tasks that go along with each class. You can also load all your professor’s test dates and even set alarms for your classes. These dates and times can be synced to your iPhone calendar and iCloud, and it’s even accessible to Apple Watch. Not to mention you can keep track of your grades as well. No more struggling to keep up with deadlines, being late to class, or calculating grades! This app has a free version but you can upgrade to the Pro version for only $2.99 to get access to all it’s great features. (Available on iOS devices).

Microsoft Office – Yes, if you didn’t know, Microsoft offers Word, PowerPoint and Excel for your devices. You can create, view and edit all from the palm of your hands. This becomes so helpful when you have things due and can’t get to a computer. If the library computers are all taken, you can take the time in between your classes with these apps to get an essay draft in, a math excel project or even resume updating. To download, you will need WiFi due to the size of the apps. Not to mention, these apps are all free in all functions. (Available on iOS and Android devices).

Google Drive – Who knew that your phone or tablet would be able to store important files like your computer can! Google drive is available on your device to store, create, edit and send documents, excel files and PDF files as well. This is great for storing a resume (which you should always keep a copy near you), reviewing an assignment, or sending/uploading that file you forgot to do the night before. Also, photos can be stored here as well. (Available on iOS and Android devices).

WorkTime – WorkTime is a shift calendar to keep track of your work shifts. You can store your shifts, add in your breaks, set reminders, calculate your hours for pay periods and even share your schedule with family or friends! With the professional version, you can add unlimited jobs (for those who work more than one job), sync your work schedule with your calendar, and calculate the wage of the hours you’ve worked all for just $2.99. (Available on iOS and equivalent available on Android).

Sworkit –  Last but not least is the app to help you get a workout in when you “don’t have time”. Everyone knows that studying and working out are what we have excuses for most because they take the most effort, but we all know that the results are worth the work. You can choose from cardio, strength, stretching, yoga or custom to start a workout and choose from different time lengths. The most essential feature is the ability to fit in a 5-minute workout! Extra features cost $0.99. (Available on iOS and Android).

These are the 5 lifesaving apps you need to keep your day running smoothly and productively from the start of it, until the end! With these apps on your Apple or Android devices, you can make every second of your day productive to achieve that fulfillment every collegiette needs to maintain that healthy balance.
