Life is Disappointing, but “Stupid F**king Bird” Sure Isn’t

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gonzaga chapter.

Need something to do this weekend while you’re greatly anticipating the Zags Final Four game? Well the Gonzaga Department of Theatre and Dance has just the thing for you! On the Magnuson Theatre stage, this weekend only, will be a performance of the incredible play, “Stupid F**king Bird”, written by Aaron Posner, with original music by James Snugg, and directed by Gonzaga University’s very own Annika Perez-Krikorian.

Loosely based off the Anton Chekov play “The Seagull,” “Stupid F**king Bird” is a contemporary adaptation of a modern theatre standard.  If you enjoy comedy, music, ukulele, and a lot of entertaining performances, come on out and see the show!

Still not convinced? Read this description from the director!

“An aspiring young director rampages against the art created by his mother’s generation. A young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing up can be.

In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all.”

The cast includes Talena Laine, Mitchell Gomes, Art Por Diaz, Olivia Roberts, Carson Stowell, Jaron Fuglie, and Emma VanderWeyst, with costume design by Rachel Carlson and assistant design by Jackie Bertagnolli, lighting design by Nathan Patrick Nelson, and scenic design by Olivia Zertuche.

PERFORMANCES:

March 30 at 7:30 pm, March 31 at 7:30 pm, April 1 at 7:30 pm

Tickets $5 at the door (you can use your Bulldog Bucks too!)

Can’t wait to see you all there!
