In high school, I had a ‘Word of the Day’ calendar. The thesaurus is my favorite tool! I thrive on learning new words and have a passion for language and all its intricacies. I’ve done some digging, and put together this list of terms you may want to use more often.
1. Sobriquet (noun): a person’s nickname.
2. Petrichor (noun): the pleasant, earthy smell after rain.
3. Balter (verb): to dance gracelessly, without particular art or skill, but perhaps with some enjoyment.
4. Ludic (adjective): full of fun and high spirits.
5. Serendipity (noun): finding something good without looking for it.
6. Dysania (noun): the state of finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning.
7. Ineffable (adjective): too great or extreme to be expressed or described in words.
8. Spoony (adjective): foolishly or sentimentally amorous.
9. Esperance (noun): hope.
10. Rident (adjective): laughing; smiling; cheerful.
11. Soliloquize (verb): to talk to oneself.
12. Heartsease (noun): peace of mind.
13. Kith (noun): acquaintances, friends, neighbors, or the like.
14. Rhapsodic (adjective): extravagantly enthusiastic; ecstatic.
15. Effervescence (noun): bubbles in a liquid.
