Gettysburg Professors New Exhibit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Schmucker Art Gallery is exhibiting a collection of works completed by the Studio Art Faculty. The varied show features, photographs, paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, and drawings. Studio art and art history majors coordinated with a selected professor a conversation that would be able to explore their works deeper. Each professor has a different relationship with his or her artwork and the artworks in the gallery are able to be characterized in their own specific way. These conversations are located around the gallery on cards that guests are welcome to take home with them. The pieces showcase the many talented and successful professors that Gettysburg College has to offer. The exhibit can offer a glimpse inside the arts on campus for students who have never taken a class in the art department. Hopefully Gettysburg College students will be inspired to learn from the many talented professors. The very dynamic show should offer something for every guest who walks through the gallery doors.

Tours in Schmucker Art Gallery by students will begin in February.

Schmucker Art Gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. For more information, go to Schmucker Art Gallery, and follow the Gallery on Facebook.

Erica M. Schaumberg is an Art History major and Studio Art minor from Gettysburg College class of 2018. You can normally find Erica biking around the battle field with her camera, practicing some pirouettes, and spending a lot of time in Schmucker, when she is not studying in her secret spot with a cup of coffee.
