4 Refreshing Treats You Need To Try Today

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Need a delicious summer-y treat? Searching for a DIY project you can eat? Look no further! Check out these four yummy, inexpensive treats you can make with food that’s already on your weekly shopping list.

1. Ice Cream Popsicles

Grab a popsicle mold (you can get them at the dollar store!) and pull out your favorite ice cream from the freezer. Let it soften a little, pour some into your popsicle mold, and let it re-harden! You can add nuts or candy or fruit to your ice cream too, so get creative!

2. Yogurt Popsicles

Looking for frozen yogurt without spending money? Make some popsicles at home! Take those popsicle molds from above and pour some yogurt into them, add some fruit and nuts, and enjoy alongside your ice cream pops! Don’t have the patience to assemble your own pop? Nab some yogurt cups (I recommend Dannon brand, which I find at my local grocery store for 75¢ a cup) and just stick a popsicle stick through the top!! Doesn’t sound super glamorous, but it feels a little less guilty than snacking on ice cream all summer. Plus, they come with fruit on the bottom, so you can get a variety of yummy flavors (tip: mix the fruit with the yogurt before freezing).

3. Lemonade

What’s summer without a little lemonade? Try this recipe for old-fashioned lemonade that only requires lemons, sugar, and some water.

BONUS: Want to keep your drink cold without watering it down further? Add some frozen raspberries for a fresh, tangy twist to a classic summer staple.

4. Yogurt Parfait Granola Bites

Can you tell that I love yogurt? For a quick no-bake granola recipe, follow the Minimalist Baker’s 5 Ingredient Granola Bar recipe (she suggests easy adjustments for the vegan/gluten free palates). Rather than making the bars in a flat pan, like she suggests, you could place the mix into a 12-cupcake tin for 12 little bite bases. Once set, pour your favorite yogurt on top of the granola, and add berries on top of the yogurt. Freeze for several hours, and enjoy!
