How to Bujo: Bullet Journaling for Novices

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

What is Bujo?? What is bullet journaling??

“Bujo” is the coined term for bullet journaling. Bullet journaling is THE way to journal. It involves any collection of paper, preferably in a journal, and allows you to be the master of your own personally curated agenda!

For some, a regular agenda can be a such a boring method of writing down all your due dates and deadlines that you begin to avoid writing in it all together. A bullet journal can rid of the monotony of writing in a boring agenda. It gives you all of the freedom to categorize any aspect you’d like: work, habit trackers, dream journal, homework/test deadlines, positive quotes, literally anything!! It is a concise way of bringing all of your ideas and thoughts together. It can allow you to see how one aspect of your life affects another, for example, looking at a busy schedule for an upcoming week could easily leave you dreading Monday. Most bujo fanatics doodle within their journals. This can help you visualize your ideas and thoughts, while also acting as a creative outlet. Doodling an inspiring quote on the page next to that can serve as a warm reminder that you can get through it! Another con to the standard agenda is that for some it can be tedious to have separate journals for business and creative or personal writings. Bujo allows you to have it all together!

One of my favorite bujo fanatics is Amanda Rach Lee.

Her bujos are #goals and she always emphasizes the fact that you don’t need to buy the most expensive pens and journals to bujo. You also don’t have have to be the most artistic person to bujo! The goal of bullet journaling is to help you order your priorities, stay creative, and be less stressed!

Go forth and bujo!
