This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

Are you planning visiting Athens soon? These are some tips of what you definitely need to visit, do, avoid and be careful of:

1)   Do visit the Acropolis museum, Lycabettus and National Art Gallery.

2)   Do book tickets for a performance at Herodes Atticus Theater.

3)   Do taste some traditional Greek food (souvlaki, mousaka) and break plates (Greek-style) at bouzoukia

4)   Do have dinner with view at the Rooftop of the hotel Grand Bretagne

5)   Do shopping at the Golden Hall Mall and enjoy a big cup of coffee at the cozy coffee places between the boutiques. If your feel homesick, you can always enjoy your skinny vanilla latte at Starbucks.

6)   Do have a walk with a sea view in Flisvos Marina and Vouliagmeni and taste the yummiest waffles with ice-cream at Waffle house.

7)     If it’s summer, do spend an evening at Island club restaurant (Don’t forget that the legal drinking age in Greece is 18, so don’t plan remaining sober)

8)   Do have a romantic date at an outdoor movie theater.

9)   Don’t freak out if people kiss you on both sides when they greet you Yes, that’s how Greeks do it and we love it.

10)   Don’t rent a bike! Greeks drive like maniacs.
