#GTownTrending: Comedy and Politics

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

When you were young did you ever wish to travel faster than the speed of sound? Did you have the burning desire to one day reach a maximum velocity of 833.9 mph? How about jumping out of a balloon 128,100 feet above New Mexico? No, you say? You are not crazy, you add. Well, Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner may be a little off his rocker because that is exactly what this daredevil (who I may add at 43 is very good looking) did this weekend. Starting at 24 miles away, he fell for 10 minutes back to Earth and landed ON HIS FEET. Learn more about this insane story on BBC’s website:

A lot of other monumental events happened this past week, including the vice presidential debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan. The candidates faced off, the critics weighed in and then someone came up with the amazing idea to see what it would look like if you switched Joe Biden and Paul Ryan’s faces. Post this to a friend’s wall. You will sufficiently creep them out:

Jimmy Fallon summed up the week incredibly well with his “Thank You Note” segment on Friday night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. This video may make you laugh a little in your Lau 2 cubicle:

Lastly, don’t miss a chance to see Argo, the new film from director/actor Ben Affleck, which just came out this weekend. Or you can freak yourself even more about going abroad and see Taken 2 – your choice. Check out the trailer for Argo here:
