It's that time of year again - when Hoyas get together and Relay for Life! Whether a survivor, caregiver, or just a supporter, Hoyas of all ages come out in the fight against cancer. Relay for Life is an event designed to raise money for The American Cancer Society. In the past 6 years, Georgetown has raised over $2.2 million in the fight against cancer. Relay is a time when students take a step back from their classes, clubs, and parties to give back.  Relay for Life is an amazing event to be a part of. Sassanova Shopping Party

By Meghan Brogan

April 11, 2013 - 6:00pm
Words can’t begin to describe how excited I am for the warmer temperatures coming our way this week.  And the best part is, they’re here to stay!  Needless to say, planning outfits for the next few days has been a challenge as I realize all the gaps in my spring wardrobe.  Luckily, Her Campus Georgetown is partnering with fellow Washington, D.C., Her Campus chapters from George Washington, George Mason, and American to sponsor a shopping night at the boutique Sassanova on Wisconsin Avenue this Thursday night (April 11) from 6-8 p.m. This little boutique is a must-visit on any shopping spree, and has so many cute things for spring.  Did I mention there will be a 20% discount, refreshments, and cupcakes?  I can’t think of a better way to usher in spring!...

Calvin Harris

By Meghan Brogan

April 6, 2013 - 8:00pm
While looking at my calendar for April is a little bit sad because it’s the last full month of the semester, it’s also very exciting because springtime at Georgetown is without a doubt the best part of the year.  Fun things happen on campus each and every weekend and the weather continues to get better and better (if you pretend there wasn’t snow on the ground when you woke up this morning).  The month kicks off on an awesome foot right when we get back to the Hilltop after Easter Break with the annual spring concert featuring Calvin Harris on Saturday, April 6 at 8 p.m. in McDonough Arena! GAAP Weekend

By Meghan Brogan

March 22, 2013 (All day)
Getting my acceptance letter from Georgetown was definitely one of the most exciting moments of my life thus far.  My parents and I jumped for joy for quite a while in the kitchen before it finally hit me that if Georgetown felt like a good fit when I visited, I would become a Hoya!  GAAP Weekend was a very important part of my decision to come to Georgetown (one of the best I’ve ever made), so when accepted students descend upon the Hilltop next weekend from March 22-23, help guide them to choose the greatest school in the greatest city! The Cherry Blossom Festival

By Meghan Brogan

March 20, 2013 - 12:00am
A frequent topic of debate in my house over Easter break was whether or not the cherry blossoms would be blooming upon my arrival back in D.C. this weekend.  My mom was optimistic, but I thought last week’s snowstorm wouldn’t bode well for the arrival of pretty pink flowers in a matter of mere days.  As it turns out, my mom was right. The number of middle school tour groups in matching neon yellow shirts that I saw as I came into the city proved that tourist season is in full swing and that the beautiful blossoms have arrived for a limited time.  I plan on channeling my inner sightseer and heading down to the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs until April 14, and I encourage my fellow Hoyas to do the same!...

Get ready to start seeing green, Hoyas!  St. Patrick’s Day is a mere week away, and whether you’re Irish or not, this holiday is a blast to celebrate at Georgetown.  The weather is finally warming up, everyone is back from spring break, and midterms are winding down, so it’s the perfect time to embrace your inner leprechaun and kick off the rest of the semester!
