Conquer the Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

Schoolwork can be overwhelming, we all know. Midterms start and then seem tojust keep coming. Even with all the papers, exams, and projects you might have, it’s important to take moments to relax and step back from the stress that you feel on campus, even if it’s just for a half hour or so. Instead of mindlessly staring at Facebook or scrolling through BuzzFeed, here are a few more interesting ways to relax.

Get Outside

There are plenty of ways to enjoy fall weather. If you’re athletic, you can always run along the water and visit the monuments since they’re open now! Or grab a snack at Dean & Deluca and walk along the riverside.

Treat Yourself

Maybe it’s Baked & Wired, maybe it’s Thomas Sweet. Either way, we all deserve some sweetness once in a while. Plus, the trip to pick up your treat gives you a chance to clear your mind.

Find A New Café

Saxby’s can get so crowded with Georgetown students that it can feel like Lauinger Library. Branch out and find your own coffee shop where you can hunker down with your work in a new environment.

Exhale

Yes, you should always breathe. But maybe you want to try a yoga class where you can relax and give your body some gentle exercise. Down Dog and Yoga Del Sol are both nearby locations where you can release some stress.

Tune Out

We all love to watch Netflix in the comfort of our beds, but movie theatres do still exist. Take a chance and branch out. See a new movie with some friends, or check out a play on campus or in a theatre nearby.
