It’s officially the best time of the year: recruitment! Chapters have spent the past month preparing to welcome new members into their sisterhood. Recruitment is a three-day process full of meeting new people, lots of talking, and finding out where you fit best. The seven chapters below are taking part in the formal recruitment process. Take some time to get to know their values and what makes each chapter unique in our Panhellenic community!
Alpha Omicron Pi

AOII is all about panda love and “Striking out Arthritis.” They recently rebranded after their summer convention and are striving to “Inspire Ambition.” Every spring, the Gamma Alpha chapter takes on Nationals Park to raise money for their philanthropy and enjoy a day out at the ballpark. They are currently dominating intramural sports and love encouraging Panhellenic love across all chapters.
Alpha Phi

A Phi has its own philanthropy, so they’re lucky to see where every penny they collect goes- the Alpha Phi foundation in support of Women’s Heart Health. “Each year we raise money for awareness of Women’s Heart Health Research raising $18,000 last year at our largest event, the Red Dress Gala. We are a group of passionate women who take great pride in affecting change in the lives of women.”
Their favorite part of recruitment for new members: “During recruitment weekend you will meet sisters from every Panhellenic sorority. It is an amazing opportunity to find the group of women who inspire you to achieve your collegiate goals!”
The ladies of A Phi strive towards “excellence in philanthropy, community service, scholarship, and personal development.”
Alpha Xi Delta

Whether it’s “Ziti with the Xi’s” or the Autism Speaks walk, AXiD is devoted to their philanthropy of autism awareness and bringing help to families and those affected. Xi’s say the best part of their sisterhood is the closeness, “…late night Wendy’s trips or studying through all hours of the night, they have your back.”
Their advice to girls considering recruitment: “Go through it with an open mind and you’ll definitely find your home!”
Chi Omega

Fun Fact: This chapter currently holds the highest academic GPA on campus!
“Having sisters hold you to a higher standard which brings out the best version of yourself. Finding people who understand you even when you may not understand yourself,” is what members say is the greatest part of their sisterhood.
They’re passionate about their philanthropy, Make A Wish, and can be seen across campus fundraising! “Being able to work with Make A Wish is such a humbling experience. Through raising money, we get to grant wishes for kids who have had anything but a normal childhood and give them that perfect moment, perfect memory, and most importantly, the hope that someday they’ll be able to be a normal kid. Seeing the looks on their faces and knowing the impact we made is an incredible feeling.”

Gamma Phi Beta

President Nicole Pearson says, “I have never met more authentic and genuine women in my life. They’re the kind of people who will lend a helping hand and mean it, make you laugh every day, tell you if you have something in your teeth and embrace you for exactly who you are. Their philanthropy of Building Strong Girls through their philanthropic partner Girls on the Run lets members go into elementary schools and help coach them to run a 5K while building up their confidence. Their favorite part of recruitment is bid day!

Pi Beta Phi

Pi Phi is dedicated to fighting illiteracy in children through their philanthropic partner Read-> Lead -> Achieve. What makes their sisterhood great? Their representative says, “Our diversity and always being able to be silly with no judgement!”
Pi Phi describes themselves as the “down to earth chill and funny girls.” Netflix and pizza night anyone? Lauren B. says, “Pi Phi is super excited for this year’s recruitment, especially since we are welcoming Kappa Delta to the Mason community. Joining the Panhellenic community is a great way to get involved at Mason, we cannot wait to meet all of the wonderful women!”
Zeta Tau Alpha

“The endless optimism in each of our sisters helps us strive to be the best version of ourselves within our chapter, within the Mason community, and beyond! Whether someone needs a study buddy in the library, advice on classes, someone to go get their nails done, or just someone to offer a listening ear – the sisterhood that ZTA/Greek Life brings is unlike any other organization on our campus.”
These wonderful ladies love sharing about the love and support they receive from sisters. Seen the pink ribbons on backpacks around campus? ZTA partners with the NFL, Think Pink, and other organizations to support their philanthropy of Breast Cancer Education.
