Sugar Shack Arlington Has Released a Golden Snitch Donut for October and It’s a Glittery Dream

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

It’s been more than a decade since the first Harry Potter book was released, but we still plan our lives around Harry Potter marathon weekends. The massively successful franchise has been adapted into movies, amusement parks, video games, school supplies, clothing and now…donuts.  For the month of October, Sugar Shack Donuts—a Richmond, VA based coffee shop that recently opened in Arlington—will have a golden snitch inspired donut in store as their “donut of the month”. The best part? It’s Butterbeer flavored.

Sugar Shack isn’t your Grandma’s donut shop, either. They’re known for specially curating eccentric donut and coffee flavors to meet the demands of NoVA’s social media savvy millennials. Their selection of donut flavors regularly includes Bacon Maple, Tastes Like A Samoa, Blackberry Basil Glazed, Mud Pot, Honey Lavender, and Fruit Loop to name a few. Their doughnut of the month usually resembles art more than it does food, and October’s Harry Potter donut is no exception. Just look at it!

Holy Honeydukes! Remember when Harry catches the snitch in his mouth in The Sorcerer’s Stone? Now we know why. Edible gold dust, starry sprinkles and a butterscotch glaze top a vanilla donut, and the snitch is crafted perfectly out of a glazed donut hole with vanilla fondant wings. It’s the donut your Instagram feed deserves, and we give it a 9 ¾ out of 10.

Get it from Sugar Shack’s Arlington location from now until Halloween.
