I got the chance to interview Meghan Ello, a freshman at George Mason. She is majoring in Community Health with a concentration in Nutrition. Meghan hopes to make a change in people’s lives, so they can lead a healthy and happy life. In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, Meghan is active in the Mason community and in Greek life on campus. This outgoing, fun-loving young lady is a sister of Gamma Phi Beta and supports her sisters every step of the way. Check out our interview, as she gives valuable advice to incoming freshmen and tells us what she loves about Mason!

How has your first year at Mason been like?

It was rough because I was still trying to adjust to the college setting. I have gotten into the swing of things, so my spring semester is a lot better. I am looking forward to my sophomore year!

What organizations are you apart of on campus?

I decided to rush a sorority my first semester at Mason because I was having a difficult time adjusting. The campus is so large that I wanted to find a smaller community within Mason. I also felt that rush would be a great opportunity to meet people. I was excited to find a group of sisters that I knew would always have my back!

What are you favorite parts of Greek life?

My favorite part is having a Big. She is definitely someone that I am able to look up to. She is great at motivating me in being a better person and student. She’s always there for me!

How have you been involved with Gamma Phi Beta?

Gamma Phi Beta has opened a lot of new doors for me. I have become more active on campus as a freshman and I am meeting new people through other Greek activities. I also had the chance in participating in Greek Week, which was a blast! I look forward to another great Greek Week next year!

Do you have a favorite class this semester?

My meditation class, hands down. It’s a relaxing class, and something I look forward to after a long week. Unwinding and reflecting is essential for a busy college student!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I really enjoy hanging out with my sisters or friends in my free time.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?

Don’t take crazy hard classes your first semester. I recommend easing into it and seeing what you can handle. This is the best way to become comfortable with college life. Loading up on courses later into the year is also a smart choice. I also suggest rushing or joining a club or two. This will help you find your place on campus!

What makes you proud to be a Patriot?

I am proud to be a patriot because of all the amazing people here at GMU. There is a sense of community, even though there are over 20,000 people on campus!
