Meet the wonderful Kaitlyn, a beautiful and brilliant Mason student! I personally first met Kaitlyn my very first year at Mason, where she was such a great RA to my floor, and immediately fell in love with her positive attitude and love for life. She has never been anything but a kind soul to those around her, she is incredible involved in academic life & loves participating in Mason clubs and activities, making her a perfect example of a true Mason Celeb!

Major I’m majoring in elementary education with minors in childhood studies and mild disability studies.

Year: Senior

Plans after Mason: After May, I’ll be going off to graduate school (fingers crossed, taking the GRE soon!) to get my teaching license. After that, my dream is to get a teaching job somewhere in Virginia.Favorite Fall Activity: I absolutely love baking all of the cliche fall treats, like pumpkin bread and snickerdoodle cookies.Best Place to study on-campus: The JC library, behind the circulation desk, in the comfy chairs in front of the giant windows. Natural lighting is a must for me when I have any studying to do. Clubs/Organizations she is a part of: I’m a resident advisor on campus and I love it because I love introducing my freshmen to the university that I love so much and giving them a supportive place to call home. I’m also involved in relay for life. Cancer has taken away many important people from my life and I love having the opportunity to fight back the nasty disease that took them away. I’m in active minds, which is the most supportive group of people and I get to advocate for a group of individuals that desperately need advocates. Reducing stigma around mental illness is my thing.Favorite college girl snack: Apple slices with peanut butter (extra crunchy) is life. Hands down, my favorite snack!Best thing about Mason: With so many diverse students, it is so easy to find someone who shares the same interests or passion as you. Favorite Class in College: Call me a nerd, but I love science. NCLC 375, understanding the sciences, was my favorite class! We got to do a ton of fun experiments and it all related to teaching science to young learners, something that I want to do for the rest of my life
