7 Reasons You Should Call Your Mom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Mom, Ma, Mommy, Maw, Maman, Mother, Mama, Mami.

No matter what you choose to call your mother, she’s your best friend and always there when you need her. If you haven’t already done this today, here are eight reasons you should probably call your mom.

1. She’s always had your back

No matter what you want to do, she’s always supported you in some way. Maybe she didn’t approve of your skydiving trip on your 21st birthday, but you know if your parachute fails that she’ll be the one to catch you. Give her a ring and check up on her.

2. She’s your best friend

You do everything together, from shopping to getting your nails done. Heck, you and you mom might even get tattoos together. Call her and tell her she’s amazing.

3. She’s always been your shoulder to cry on

Whether you’ve fought with your best friend, had a bad breakup or just had a bad day, your mom will listen to you vent all day over the phone.

4. She’s the one you call whenever you’re in trouble

If you ever got arrested, you know who you’d call to bail you out.

5. She loves you, and you love her

There are very few people that can compare to your mom. Even just a simple, “Hi, how are you?” can go a long way.

6. Your mother can be scary

You do not want to get on your mom’s bad side, and forgetting to call her might just do it.

7. You would take on the world for her

At the end of the day there’s no one you would rather have at your side. So go ahead, call your mom and tell her how much she means to you.

I'm a vegetarian, a globetrotter and a very passionate bookworm. I like listening to rock music, baking, and dyeing my hair crazy colors. I've begun collecting tattoos and stories and before I die I want to kiss in the rain. I love to dance (very badly, I might add), sing in the shower and stare at the stars. I live in my own little world and sometimes I get lost there. It's a good place to be.
