Summer Albums to Look Forward to

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCSU chapter.

One of the most beautiful things about music is that it can soundtrack an entire time period of your life. So many artists are preparing to drop new albums in the coming months, and I know they will not disappoint. I am prepared to let these records soundtrack the entire summer, are you? Check out these five albums being released during the upcoming season for some tunes to listen to all summer long.

1. COIN: “How Will You Know If You Never Try”

COIN’s second album, “How Will You Know If You Never Try,” will be dropping April 21, 2017. It has been almost two years since the band released their debut, self-titled album, so their fans are anxiously awaiting this record’s release. The album features the singles “Talk Too Much,” “I Don’t Wanna Dance,” “Feeling,” and my personal favorite, “Malibu 1992.” The Nashville-based band has an upbeat, electronic-yet-alternative sound that is sure to get your summer off to a great start.

2. Harry Styles: “Harry Styles”

The One Direction heartthrob is finally releasing his solo project. Styles has already dropped his first single from the album, “Sign of the Times,” a ballad that showcases his strong vocal abilities. The album is expected to be like to “Sign of the Times,” with mostly slow songs sounding similar to artists like Mumford and Suns or BØRNS. The self-titled album drops May 12, 2017 – just under a month away!

3. Dua Lipa: “Dua Lipa”

Dua Lipa’s self-titled debut album is finally hitting the shelves (and streaming devices) on June 2, 2017. The British singer is currently on a world tour promoting this release, gaining more fans each day. Her album will feature hits such as “Be The One” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” along with unreleased crowd-favorites that Dua has only played at her shows, such as “Want To” and “Genesis.”

4. Halsey: “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom”

Since the release of her first full album, “Badlands,” Halsey has exploded in popularity. Almost two years later, her sophomore album “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” will arrive on June 2, 2017. Halsey has already released one single, “Now Or Never,” but listeners are still curious to see what the sound of this album will be like.

5. LANY: “LANY”

Though LANY has been releasing EPs for years, this is their first full-length album. The record includes their hit “ILYSB” and 15 other new tracks. They have released “Good Girls” and “It Was Love ” as singles – “Good Girls” even had a Snapchat filter for a while. These singles are very reminiscent of LANY’s usual style of music, and if you are a fan of theirs, it will not disappoint.
