It’s that time of the year again collegiettes! Now that we’ve settled into classes and are ready for the semester, it’s time to look ahead at the great things that fall will bring. This includes some amazing movies. There is a wide variety of flicks coming out in the closing months of 2015, some highly anticipated and some more obscure. Below is just a sampling of what the fall cinema season has to offer. Mark your calendars!

1. “The Walk”

This biopic starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt is based on the story of Philippe Petit’s 1974 tightrope walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Release date: Oct. 9

Another biopic, the film centers around three product launches by both Apple and NeXT Inc., while exploring obstacles in Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ life.

3. “Suffragette”

Release date: Oct. 23

This film is especially exciting for Her Campus women (all women, really) as it explores the origin of women’s long awaited right to vote. The historical drama focuses on members of the British women’s suffragette movement – both fictitious and historical – as they fight for equal rights in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

4. “He Named Me Malala”

Release date: Oct. 2

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education who has become internationally recognized for her courage in supporting education for women in her province of Pakistan.  This documentary explores the lead-up to the Taliban’s attack on her for her stance on education and the outcome, in which she became a leader in female education, co-founder of the Malala Fund, and a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. The documentary is scheduled for limited theatrical release.

5. “The Good Dinosaur”

Release date: Nov. 25

This is Disney/Pixar’s latest release and comes on the heels of their last film, “Inside Out”. In keeping with their usual work, Pixar has created a unique plot line for their 16th film. Set in an alternate world in which the extinction of dinosaurs never occurred, a young Apatosaurus named Arlo strikes up a friendship with a human boy.

6. “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens”

Release date: Dec. 18

J.J. Abrams takes the reins as director of the newest installment in the “Star Wars” saga. This film will see the return of “Star Wars” alumni Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, reprising their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, and Han Solo respectively. It also features actors originating new characters in the series. Though the plot has been kept very quiet, it has been confirmed that it is set approximately 30 years after “Return of the Jedi”. Get excited “Star Wars” fans! Maybe this is the time to introduce your friends to the saga with a marathon, in preparation for the December release.
