The modern age of dating is surrounding us. It is starting to be a rarity that we are meeting and being interested in people in person. We live in the digital era, but only recently have dating apps have become more prevalent in how we interact. Of course, the online dating sites, such as Match.com, eHarmony, and OKCupid have always existed and have had great reviews on meeting people and having lasting relationships. However, with the way times and technology are changing so quickly and how people are being more mobile now, we have transferred deciding who we want to date on interact with through a mere swipe.

The most popular dating apps, according to Business Insider are: OKCupid, Happn, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble, and Tinder. Which to keep up with the change in how people interact, sites like OKCupid have even gone mobile.

From being surrounded in a college atmosphere, the most common app that is being used to date or hookup with other people is Tinder. Tinder was on the rise when mobile dating apps were making a bigger headway. Whether you have a tinder or not, at some point you have probably seen someone’s or at least heard the name. The way it works is that you have a profile to tell the potential person about yourself. From there you can swipe left or right on people who are a certain distance from you. Swiping left means you don’t like them, swiping right means you do. If it turns out that they also swiped right on you, the app will tell you that you have a match. From there you can do as you please.

I have nothing against online dating or dating apps. I have even used Tinder myself at one point. There is something about it that seems to be a detachment from true human interaction. Technology is supposed to bring us together, but it seems like everyday there is a new way of keeping us apart.
