It’s after Thanksgiving which means Christmas songs are playing on the radio and the Black Friday shopping spree has left you mutilated but nowhere close to the end of your shopping list. If you’re still trying to think of ideas for that special man in your life, your family, or your friends, look no further. This blog will give you great gift ideas for everyone plus a few links to the sites where these gifts can be found so your searching can continue. Wishing you and your family the happiest of holidays, whichever ones you celebrate, from the HerCampus GCSU chapter!

1) For Your Man (or a brother)

I found a site called the “Holiday Gift Guide” while searching for a gift to give my man and it also includes gifts for her and gifts for teens (for that cousin you just don’t know what gift to give). My man is funny, so the site gave me a link to look at gifts a man with a sense of humor would enjoy. In this list, I found a pair of pajamas and the shirt says, “I’m great in bed. I can sleep all day.” Which is hilarious to me, because he really can sleep all day long, plus a nap. Whether your guy is a sports lover, a geek, an entertainment nut, or a gym lover, this site has a great starting point to get some ideas about what your guy would love for Christmas (although anything from you will warm his heart anyway). You can find this great gift and more at the following site: http://www.cafepress.com/+christmas+gifts

2) For Your Sister

I don’t know about you guys, but I have a sister who is a complete gymaholic. She loves any clothing that could be used to work out in and tennis shoes are her shoe of choice. For a sister, or a friend, who loves the gym, try getting her a gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods or a sporting store similar to that. Or, if a gift card just won’t cut it, try searching inside the store for something you know she’ll love. In my case, I would head straight for the gym shorts (the ones with the built-in underwear), preferably Nike brand, because that’s the first thing she looks at whenever we enter the Dick’s store. If you’re not sure if she wears those type of shorts, try yoga pants. Who doesn’t love yoga pants? She will feel flattered that you think she will look amazing in them and you will feel great knowing you gave her something she loves.

3) For Your Mother

Whenever I ask my Mom what she wants for Christmas, she always gives me the same answer, “Oh, I don’t know. A pretty shirt?” This never gives me that amazing idea of what I could get her to “wow” her on Christmas morning. If your Mother is anything like mine, she purchases things she wants during the year and doesn’t wait to see if anyone could get it for her for Christmas (like she does my sister and I). If you’re searching desperately for something your Mother wants, but doesn’t already own, you’re most likely digging yourself into a ditch. Here are a few examples of things you could get for her. One: if she is a wine drinker, buy her a new set of nice wine glasses to replace the ones she bought three years ago that now only have three glasses instead of four. Two: If your Mom is a fan of baths, buy her a set of bath salts and maybe a body wash with a luffa that have a relaxing smell to help her relieve the stress built up from the week. Three: Buy her something for the kitchen. You really can’t go wrong here. Whether it’s a new set of dish towels that match the kitchen, or a new cutting board, or a set of stainless steel carving knives, she will love having new toys to play with in her kitchen and she might even make your favorite dinner! Four: Mom’s love decoration! They’re always searching for that perfect piece to cover that blank wall, but can’t settle on anything. If you see a cute picture frame that would fit perfectly, add a little love by putting a picture inside. She will love the personal touch and will always think of you whenever she sees that frame. Five: If you’re looking for something a little more sentimental, something that you and your mother could share forever, then feast your eyes on the “Mother and Daughter Letter Book.” This book is designed for the two of you to send letters back and forth, sharing memories and love. After the letters are all sent, there are pockets inside the book to keep the letters safe. The description of the book says it was created from a woman losing her mother and wishing she had a piece of her to keep forever. Even if you won’t be losing your mother to an illness, this would be a thoughtful gift to let your mother know you want to think about her and remember her forever. 4) For Your Father

Christmas gifts for Dad can often be difficult and sometimes I find myself buying him the same types of things over and over: nice shirts, power tools, ties, shorts, grill accessories, but no more! This year, find something that is different from all the other gifts. If your dad likes to drink whiskey, there are these things called whiskey stones and they are the replacement of ice cubes. They are designed to keep his drink cold without the risk of watering it down! If your Dad is a techno-wizard, get him a new case for his iPhone. This case has a secret compartment to hold his house key, a bit of cash, and credit cards. Check out this link: http://www.thegrommet.com/iphone-storage-case-by-eyn. If your Dad likes to collect old signs, here is a link to create your own personal sign that looks rustic and your dad will love it: http://gifts.personalcreations.com/gifts/Rustic-Metal-Signs-30019312?sk=christmas+gift+for+dad&ref=PCRorganicgglgeneric&prid=pcseogg&viewpos=5&trackingpgroup=pchrdad. 5) For Your Friends

Everyone is different, so it’s hard to think about what gifts you could give to your friends. Simply searching for a gift for a friend is hard because the results are so broad and you just don’t know where to start. Here is a link to a site that will help you decide what gift to get your friend based on the personality they have: http://www.gifts.com/personality/women. Maybe this site will help spark an idea that will get you going and will lead to more than bath soaps and lotion for those special girls in your life who deserve more than that.

Happy shopping! And good luck!

I'm a senior here at Georgia College. My major is English, with a concentration in creative writing, and a minor in Marketing. I love to write fiction with dabbles in poetry. I'm happily taken with the love of my life and we have an adorable puppy (that's mostly his, but I like to steal him.) Working with HerCampus has allowed me to get to know some wonderful girls and I couldn't be happier with the experience.
