Interview

Her Campus: What made you choose GC?

Ashley McGlathery: I went to Georgia State first and I was uncomfortable and unhappy with the lack of community offered by such a big school. Georgia College was always my second choice, so I decided to transfer here.

HC: Why are you a creative writing major?

AM: First and foremost, I’m a storyteller. I want to leave my mark on the world by leaving behind stories that people can connect and relate to and find a piece of themselves in.

HC: How long have you been writing?

AM: Since I was about 11 years old. My friends and I used to write short stories and would share them.

HC: I hear you wrote a play that is going to be performed next semester. Tell me a little about it.

AM: I’m super excited about it. It’s going to be directed by the wonderful Joanna Grissom. It’s about three sisters and their journey to discovering one another and knowing each other on a deeper level after years of separation. I wanted to write a story about strong women, and I am so excited to see what Joanna does with it!

HC: What is a fun fact about yourself?

AM: I want to own my own production company one day.

Fun Fact From Ashley: Hollywood is filled with many scandals, but one you may not know about is the elicit affair between Marlon Brando and James Dean. Google it.
