What We’re Obsessing Over: The Grammys Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

The month of February is home to Valentine’s Day, midterm week and, most importantly, The Grammys. There are so many wonderful artists that get recognized for their work, while others slip through the cracks. The exec team here at Her Campus has decided to choose our own Grammy winners- the artists and songs that we’re obsessing over this month.

“Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran: Alexandra Lo Re, Editor-in Chief

Right now I can’t stop listening to “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran. I heard it for the first time about two weeks ago and now I can’t get the flippin’ song out of my head! It’s so fun to listen to and so versatile. I can listen to it at the gym, getting ready to go out, or while I study. It’s fantastic. I’m not a huge Ed Sheeran fan, but this song rocks.

“Sleep on the Floor” and Lumineers: Samantha Buxbaum, Public Relations and Events Planning Director

So my favorite album that came out this past year was Cleopatra by the Lumineers, so my favorite artist would have to be them! My song pick from that album would be “Sleep on the Floor”.

1. They have such a great sound. I listen to the album non-stop even though it’s been out for a few months now. It’s great for car rides with the windows down.

2. They are a bit of an underdog. They have been getting some good buzz for their album but they’re up against some tough competition. Everyone loves an underdog story, right?

“I Feel It Coming” by The Weeknd: Emma Cyphers, Secretary and Treasurer

I love the combination of the melody with the Daft Punk beat and under-tone voices.

“Broccoli” by D.R.A.M.: Felicity Warner, Managing Editor

1. It is such a fun song that’s different from anything else I’ve ever heard. It makes me so ridiculously happy every time I listen to it.

2. D.R.A.M. recently performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, where he demonstrated his impressive vocals and soulful rhythm. Now I’m most definitely rooting for him to take home a Grammy!

“The Very Thought of You” by Michael Bublé: Rachel Dix-Kessler, Public Relations and Event Planning Director

I just like to imagine Bublé is singing to me. Just kidding, it’s not his song, but it is on his new album and it’s fabulous. Bublé is already dreamy; the lyrics are an added bonus! Bublé does a great job at keeping artists like Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter and so many more alive.
