Ocean air and salty hair are approaching very soon. With Summer coming up, most of us want our hair to be ready before we settle  into “vacation mode.” It’s important to not forget about treating our hair to a mask or two after all we put it through. If you want to grow your hair faster just in time for Summer or maybe just want to give it the nutrients it needs, then try this DIY mask! This will have your hair grow long, full of shine and looking healthy. Do this one or twice a week or even before the shower, and you’ll be having a great hair day.

Ingredients:

Castor Oil

This is the primary and most effective oil in promoting hair growth. Packed with omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids and anti-bacterial properties, castor oil boosts blood circulation for new hair to grow while adding thickness, shine and moisture. This is the key to making hair grow and you can even use this to make your eyebrows thicker and eyelashes grow! Because this oil is really thick in consistency, it’s best to dilute with other essential oils.

Coconut Oil

We all know that coconut oil is the holy grail when it comes to anything and everything. But as for a hair mask, it makes for a great way to add moisture! Coconut oil is packed with vitamins E and K and improves your hair’s moisture, shine and eliminates frizz. It seals the hair follicles to prevent future damage and promotes silky smooth hair. Its protein and fatty acids help hair grow faster and improves scalp conditions for healthier hair.

Peppermint Oil

This probably comes to a surprise since peppermint is usually in our lattes around December but this essential oil is great for stimulating the scalp. You can actually feel your scalp start to tingle and feel refreshed! Because this oil is so intense, not much is required and a few drops go a long way. Some of its benefits include adding gloss, shine and moisture to dull hair while also opening up follicles to rejuvenate hair and help it grow back healthy.

Avocado Oil

No, avocado is not only used for spreading it on a slice of toast. Whether it’s an actual mashed up avocado or avocado oil, it is a secret in hair care. It contains vitamins A, B, D and E. Rich in folic and amino acids, protein and zinc, avocado oil improves cell growth to maintain and restore a healthy scalp for new hair growth. It locks in moisture while also preventing future damage with its high abundance of proteins and fatty acids.

Directions: Grab yourself an applicator bottle or a bowl and start with the castor oil as a base. Because castor oil is very thick, mix other oils or ingredients of your choice to dilute it. Do this till the consistency is just right for you. Next, part your hair with a comb and apply the mixture directly onto the scalp. Massage the scalp for 3-5 minutes to start blood circulation and get good coverage. Then, cover hair with a conditioning cap or clear plastic shower cap and leave the treatment on overnight. Wash it out the next morning and continue treatment once or twice every week—your hair will thank you!
