Her Campus (HC): What’s your position working with Doak After Dark, and how did you first get involved?

Taylor Shaw (TS): I am the Campus Coordinator! I help with marketing and I oversee the campus representative program. I started working for Seminole Sports Marketing back in August and got the chance to assist with the first Doak After Dark concert in the fall. Through my experience and all that I was able to learn, I was promoted to have a bigger role with the spring Doak After Dark concert!

HC: What has been the best part of this experience for you? The most challenging?

TS: Getting to meet all of the artists is incredible! Last November, at the first Doak After Dark, I got to meet Tyler Farr, Old Dominion and Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots. You can imagine my excitement to meet Blake Shelton and Jake Owen this spring! I also really enjoy working with my amazing team. The most challenging part has definitely been balancing everything. We’re working to come up with new and creative ideas to market the event, but I’m also responsible for working with other sports through my internship; not to mention, school, work and being a team leader for Panhellenic recruitment. It gets stressful, but we have a team where we all bring our strengths to the table for Doak After Dark; so we can work together to put on the best event possible.

HC: What about this upcoming Doak After Dark are you most excited for?

TS: I’m really excited for the Sorority Banner Contest! Every chapter has been given the opportunity to create a banner promoting Doak After Dark and Jake Owen’s new album. On the day of the concert, Jake Owen is going to visit the winning sorority at their chapter house. This is such a unique contest and I can’t wait to see all of the creative banners. I’m really excited to meet Jake Owen too!

HC: As a rising leader in the FSU community, you’re also involved in Delta Zeta sorority. What’s some advice you have for freshmen who are just learning how to juggle college and its demands?

TS: Early on, take every opportunity you can to get involved! Florida State has so many unique opportunities and there really is something for everyone. Take the time to figure out what you’re passionate about so that you can put 110% into it; try not to spread yourself too thin.
