Meet One of Campus’ Cutest: Thomas Ginn, Phi Tau VP

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Name: Thomas Ginn

Year: Junior

Hometown: Jacksonville, FL

Relationship Status: Single

Major: International Affairs

Her Campus (HC): How did you know that Phi Tau was the right fraternity for you?

Thomas Ginn (TG): A friend from high school brought me around all of the guys during my orientation, and I just felt like it was the place for me. I got my bid a little before Rush Week and decided to take it. I’ve been really happy with Phi Tau, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without it.

HC: Congrats on being elected as the new VP of Phi Tau for 2015! Can you tell us anything about how the election process worked?

TG: Thank you! I was actually nominated for Rush Chair as well as Membership Orientation Officer first, but the day before elections I decided to run for VP. I ran unopposed, so I just gave a short speech to show what I wanted to do with the position. I was elected right after.

HC: Why is a manly leader with perfect hair like you still single among so many young women at FSU?

TG: Because I’m smart.

HC: What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time?

TG: I really enjoy just going to the Leach and playing basketball with some of the guys. It’s probably my favorite sober activity.

HC: What do you have to say to those who think that fraternities are overrated and a waste of money?

TG: Honestly, I don’t expect them to understand. They don’t see where our money goes. If they could attend our tailgates, socials, brotherhood events, formals, date functions, etc., they would probably change their minds.

HC: What’s your favorite music to listen to? Any favorite bands, artists, or genres?

TG: For some reason I’m really into EDM. I’m not a big music festival kind of guy—I just enjoy the music. I’m a pretty big fan of rap as well. Some artists I commonly listen to would probably be A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, Boosie, and my roommate Hunter Reid. I do listen to almost every type of music though, even folk or occasionally rock.

HC: I’m sure the ladies would love to know, what is your idea of a perfect date?

TG: A perfect date for me would probably be pretty simple and basic. You like sushi? Perfect, let’s grab some Kiku, get a Redbox movie and some wine, and chill at my place. I’m pretty laid back, so that sounds great to me. Although I’m always down for a road trip to the beach, candlelit dinners, Marvin Gaye, concerts, or just a casual blackout at Standard and waking up next to you.

HC: What’s one thing about women that bothers you the most?

TG: Mood swings. How can you go from smiling and happy and then, just because cover at happy hour is five dollars instead of three dollars, your day is ruined? Way over my head, man.

HC: Any advice for young women in college who are trying to land a committed relationship?

TG: Don’t overthink things and don’t force the relationship. If it’s not right, it’s not right.

HC: Beer or liquor?

TG: Liquor. Whiskey to be specific, but during tailgates I’ve been known to have my share of Nattys.

HC:  Game Day or going out?

TG: Solid question. Honestly, I’m going to have to say Game Day. I go out as often as I can, but nothing beats a beautiful Saturday with hundreds of people, a bunch of beer, hamburgers and hotdogs, and an undefeated Seminole football team. Roll Tribe.

HC: Blondes or brunettes?

TG: I don’t know what it is about them, but 100% brunettes.
