Highly Anticipated Movies of the Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

We’re only a few weeks into summer, but some of the biggest blockbusters of the season have already hit theaters: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, Neighbors, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Don’t worry though—there are still plenty of movies to come this summer. Whether you’re into rom coms, dark comedy, action, or coming-of-age stories, there’s something coming out this summer that you will fall in love with.

The Fault in Our Stars:

Based on the novel written by John Green, The Fault in Our Stars is guaranteed to be an emotional rollercoaster. If you’re one of the many who have read the book, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t read the book yet, don’t forget to bring some tissues with you to the theater. Theaters are already selling tickets to the midnight premiere, so get your tickets before they sell out.

22 Jump Street:

If you’re anything like me, then you also cannot make it through the trailer of the movie without doubling-over from laughing so hard. Sometimes sequels don’t live up to the hype, but I’m expecting very good things from this one. I’ve seen the first one at least ten times and all of the jokes still make me laugh. Based on what I’ve seen in the trailer, 22 Jump Street will do the same.

Guardians of the Galaxy:

Three words: shirtless Chris Pratt. Enough said.

Boyhood:

This movie follows a boy’s life from the time he was 5 all the way to age 18, which doesn’t sound too crazy until you find out that the boy is played by the same actor. Boyhood was filmed over the past twelve years making that possible. As if that wasn’t a big enough reason to want to see it, Richard Linklater, who directed “Dazed and Confused”, also directed the movie.

What If:

The clip from upcoming film What If features a broken-hearted Daniel Radcliffe and awkward social interactions, which are two of my favorite things to watch. We’ve got another story of “boy falls for girl; girl has a boyfriend,” but who doesn’t love watching those?

Life After Beth:

Just in case you can’t quite figure out what Life After Beth is about from this clip, a girl dies and comes back to life and her boyfriend is responding to it like any normal human being would. I am very excited to see Aubrey Plaza and Dane DeHaan co-star in a movie together, especially one that includes zombies. According to a couple sources, the film is set to be released August 15th, but I can’t find an official source confirming the release date. Keep your fingers crossed that this will come out soon.

Begin Again:

Mark Ruffalo, Keira Knightley, and Adam Levine star in Begin Again, and I want to watch it now. Sadly, it doesn’t come out for another month. Movies about music are always guaranteed to be a good time.
