The first three Saturdays of fall semester have been devoted to tailgating, corn hole, and cheering on the Seminole football team. FSU hosted Louisiana-Monroe and Charleston Southern for the first two games of the season and walked away victorious with scores of 34-0 and 62-10 respectively. Then on September 17th, all eyes were on Tallahassee as FSU hosted the #1 team in the country, the Oklahoma Sooners. FSU lost 23-13. However, the Seminole nation came out in hordes in support of the team.
The “Boys of Fall” will be on the road until the next home game on October 22nd against Maryland. What’s a Seminole fan to do in the meantime? Seize the opportunity to get their sports fix by watching other games going on this semester, such as volleyball and soccer.
The women’s volleyball team has been a force to be reckoned with in Tully Gym so far this year. They started the season off strong at The Florida State Invitational, hosting Albany, Kentucky and Tulsa. The Seminoles dominated all 3 teams, only losing one set to Tulsa. FSU played against ACC rival Miami in a televised match on September 14th in a packed Tully Gym. FSU won 3 sets to none thanks to their hard work and home court advantage. Coming up FSU will play on Sunday, October 2nd vs. Wake Forest at 1pm, the perfect time for a study break to support The Noles. The ladies will play at home again, twice in one weekend, on October 14th at 7pm and October 16th at 1pm.
Other talented athletes who deserve some support this month are those that make up the FSU women’s soccer team. Upcoming home games against ACC teams include a matchup vs. NC State at 1pm on October 2nd and vs. Maryland on October 13th at 7pm. FSU then plays Boston College on October 16th at 1pm.
While we await the return of home football games towards the end of October, cheer on your fellow Lady Noles!
