Her Campus (HC): What are you involved in here at FSU?
Kiernan Farmer (KF): I’m a member of the Marching Chiefs and currently the section leader of Florida State’s Drumline, also known as Big 8.
HC: What got you interested in Marching Chiefs?
KF: My sister actually convinced me to join marching band in high school because she regretted not giving it a shot. I rented myself a saxophone and beginner’s book and taught myself how to read music the summer before 9th grade. I enjoyed it my first year, but realized that drumline was pretty much the coolest thing at our school. So I started practicing snare with a buddy of mine on the line and the rest is history.
HC: What other types of special skills do you have?
KF: Oh, not many. I play guitar a bit, but I’d say I’m most proud of the fact that I can name all the presidents in order. Let’s pretend that’s a skill.
HC: Do you have a job here in Tally?
KF: I work at the Firehouse Subs across from campus.
HC: Will you get me a free sub sometime?
KF: Not sure I have that sort of authority, but you should come in and meet my boss Keith! He’s a really cool dude.
HC: What are your top 5 favorite movies?
KF: This is hard, mainly because I tend to watch pretty terrible movies, but I’d go with: The Shawshank Redemption, Interstellar, Django Unchained, Insidious and Birdemic.
HC: Would you vote for Kanye if he ran for President?
KF: Definitely, but only under the circumstances that he creates his own 3rd party solely devoted to himself.
HC: What is your beer of choice?
KF: Kirkland Light Beer. $20 for a 48 pack.
HC: Do you have a favorite candy?
KF: Crunchies. They’re chocolate bars with a toffee honeycomb center.
HC: Did you win any superlatives in high school?
KF: Not at all! But let’s pretend I did and say I won “Most Likely to Not Win a Superlative.”
HC: What is your dream date?
KF: Netflix and chill… kidding! Pretty much anything involving a girl would be dope. I think something obscure is fun, like exploring a new area of this town.
HC: Which Disney prince do you most relate to?
KF: Shrek.
HC: What’s your go-to bar in Tally?
KF: Honestly, it’s probably the strip. $5 AYCD on the guest list on Saturdays is hard to turn down.
HC: If you had three wishes, what would they be?
KF: 1. Pokemon is real. 2. I already have a degree. 3. No line at Chipotle.
HC: Who are your top favorite artists?
KF: Everyone always says the stock “I like everything,” with maybe the exception of country or hardcore music or something. I tend to like pretty specific artists from various genres like Blink-182, Gucci Mane, Kanye, Chon, Riff Raff, etc.
HC: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
KF: At least four or five years older.
