7 Reasons Why You Must Watch Stranger Things

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

The new Netflix original series Stranger Things has everyone glued to the TV. It has probably popped up in your Netflix suggestions and you probably skip past it to continue watching other movies and shows you’ve already seen a million times. Just by reading the title of the show, I was not intrigued by it. I thought it would be boring or somewhat uninteresting, but I was wrong!

I began watching the show at a friend’s house on a Sunday evening and after that day I was no longer a Stranger Things virgin. I literally watched the entire season in just one sitting.

Everyone is going crazy about this new series, and you know why? Because it’s so good!

Everyone loves the 80’s, especially because of the music. The show tries to bring in nostalgia of that decade, which carries you back to your childhood and makes you remember that during that time everyone actually appreciated the instruments of the music and actually bought their own music rather than just downloading it like we do in today’s decade.

2. Winona Ryder is in it!

Remember the little girl who wore all black in Beetle Juice? Well, she’s all grown up now. In the show, she’s staring as Joyce Byers, the mother of Will Byers, a little boy who is missing. The role she is playing is completely different from any role she has played in the past. She’s a grown woman now and is playing a mother who is gradually going crazy because she can’t find her son.

3. The kids are the main stars

The kids are the main characters of the show, which is rare to see in modern day TV shows. They are also amazing in it; they act like adults in the show, using big words whenever something bad is about to happen.

4. It’s scary and romantic

It’s basically a mix of Sci-Fi/Thriller and romance. We could see Nancy and Steve’s relationship grow throughout the show and see how love was back then in the 80’s and how romantic it was! We also see a bit of thriller in the show when the kids are trying to figure out the mysterious creature that lurks in the dark.

5. It’s only 8 episodes

You can watch this show in a day and finish it in one sitting. It’s super short, and you can binge watch it while in a nice comfy bed with popcorn!

6. Eleven, who kicks ass in the show

The star of the show kicks ass! Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven in the show, shows great character in each scene she filmed and her acting is incredible in the show.

7. The clothes

Don’t you love the 80’s look? Long skirts and knee-length socks. Throughout the show, you can see the different outfits each character has and what the style was like back in the 1980s—very conservative and cute!
