Meet Kate Ebrect!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

You’ve probably seen this tall beaut walking around campus. Take some time to get to know our writer Kate!

Year: Class of 2020

Hometown: Boston, MA

Major: Business Marketing

Involvement: Her Campus, SDA

What have you enjoyed most about your first year at FSU?

It was actually Her Campus just because I got to meet a lot of cool people. It’s nice to have these people around and it’s a great creative outlet.

What is one thing you wish you knew before coming here?

I wish I knew that everyone left on the weekends and how big the commuter population was. It can be hard staying on campus when no one’s around and there isn’t much to do.

Who is your greatest role model?

I don’t have one because I don’t think it’s really fair to put people on a pedestal that people will inevitably fall off of.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d change the fact that I can be lazy and procrastinate. Like, I should be doing a project but instead I’m doing this.

If your life was a movie, what genre would it be?

I think my life would be a comedy. I find myself laughing at all of these stupid predicaments I put myself in.

What is your favorite song at the moment?

I am usually a classic rock kind of girl but currently (and weirdly) my favorite song is Don’t Rain On My Parade by Barbara Streisand. It is definitely the perfect finals anthem. It keeps my spirits up.

Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?

I’m a night owl. I’m constantly finding myself writing poems at 2:00am for my class because that’s the only time my creative side and I interact.

What is one of your favorite cards in Cards Against Humanity?

Well, that’s a hard question (winks). I would have to say the “German Dungeon Porn” card because it is very relatable.

If you could plan out the next 5 years of your life, what would they look like?

Well I would graduate after 3 more years. And then I’d come up and I’d live in my grandmother’s house, have a really great job and not have to pay rent! And probably travel semi-regularly.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

To join clubs and put out feelers. Go to first meetings. Not every group will be a good fit. Don’t stick with the first group you join just because you’re there. There will be somewhere that you vibe with on campus. Just get yourself out there.
