Halloween Movies to Watch if You Hate Scary Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

I have always enjoyed Halloween. I love the idea of dressing up, I love candy, and it’s the most unique holiday in that it’s supposed to be scary. However, there is one spooky element I could never get behind and it’s scary movies. I know, I know, what kind of Halloween fan doesn’t like scary movies? Well, this one, apparently. There’s something about horror movies that stays with me long after I’ve watched it and not in a good way. Everything else about Halloween I love! I know I’m not alone in this, though. And don’t worry my fellow Halloween lovers/horror movie haters, there are plenty of Halloween movies that are far from being too scary.

Hocus Pocus

It wouldn’t be Halloween without watching this classic with friends!

Casper Meets Wendy

This was not only one of my favorite movies to watch in October, but year ’round! Plus Hilary Duff.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Beetlejuice

Halloweentown series

While the original is the absolute best, all of the movies are perfect to binge watch on Halloween night!

The Addams Family

*snap snap*

Young Frankenstein

Shaun of the Dead

If you’re okay with some gore and a really funny movie, it’s a fantastic movie to watch for Halloween.

The Haunted MansionMight have scared you as a kid, but now not so much.

Edward Scissorhands

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

But it’s easy to love this movie (too corny?)

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

The most classic of the classics of course!
