HC Fordham Senior Staff Series: Alex Bruno

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

As the end of the school year approaches, we at Her Campus Fordham are saying our goodbyes to the seniors on our staff. *cue “Long Live” by Taylor Swift* We thought the best way to honor these lovely ladies is to interview them as our Campus Celebs. So, the first of our HC Fordham Senior Staff Series interviews belongs to Alex Bruno. In between writing articles for Her Campus, she interns, pursues a double major, and makes some great memories along the way. Read about them below!

Where are you from? Poughkeepsie, NY

What year are you? Senior

What is your major? Marketing and International Business

How did you decide to come to Fordham? I transferred into Fordham halfway through Freshman year. I have no idea why I didn’t think to come here in the first place, being from New York, but after hating my first university & visiting here I loved how Fordham was the perfect blend of being in the city & in such close proximity to everything I wanted, but still had the campus vibe.

Do you have a favorite Fordham memory? Fordham Halloweens have been some of my favorite memories for sure. [Author’s note: Check out Alex’s amazing costume from our Halloween 2014 Instagram contest here!]

What’s your favorite class you’ve taken at Fordham? Consumer Behavior with Beth Vallen

Who is your favorite professor at Fordham? Professor Santangelo (stats professor)

Where’s your favorite spot on campus? Eddie’s

What do you think the best part of a Jesuit education is? Even though some of the classes in a Jesuit education can seem annoying at first, you get exposed to subjects you probably would have never had the opportunity to learn about otherwise.

If you could relive one year at Fordham which would it be and why? I think I would want to relive freshman year, but have had the opportunity to be at Fordham the entire time.

What hobbies do you have? Cooking, running, shopping & playing with my puppy

What’s on your NYC bucket list? I have yet to eat a Thompson Square bagel so that’s a must. I also want to go to the Museum of Natural History before this year’s over.

What’s your dream job? I’m still trying to figure this one out, but definitely something in the business world that allows me to be interactive with people on a daily basis.

Do you have any tips for students who are trying to balance schoolwork, extracurriculars, and other obligations like internships? As much as getting involved in school and internships is important, don’t spread yourself too thin. Find things that you’re passionate about and can help you get to where you want to be in life & spend your time on those.

What’s one thing everyone would be surprised to learn about you? I was on Slime Time Live as a kid.

If you could give one piece of advice to a Fordham collegiette, what would it be? College begins and ends in the blink of an eye, so work hard but don’t forget to have a lot of fun along the way.

Olivia is a junior at Fordham University. She is a Communications major from bright and sunny Southern California, but the East Coast is her second home. She actually does love long walks on the beach, but she also loves being a friend, sister, daughter, and aunt. Most importantly, she hopes her articles make you feel happy.
