Crystal Gonzalez: Our Spirit Animal

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Crystal Gonzalez is a spunky and friendly girl you could absolutely describe as your spirit animal. With a wide range of talents and activities that keep her going throughout the day, you will always want to stop and listen to hear about what she’s up to. As associate director of FUEMS, a contributor to Spoons University and a New Student Orientation Leader, Crystal is a fellow Ram you will absolutely want to get to know if you get the chance!

What is your major?

I’m a Marketing major with a minor in Communication and Media Studies.

Rangers game or Yankees game?

Yankees!

Froyo or ice cream sundae?

Ice cream sundae

Backstreet Boys or *NSYNC?

*NSYNC

Favorite Disney movie?

Aladdin

As associate director of FUEMS, what is your advice to FU students?

I wouldn’t give any advice out of the ordinary. I’m an EMT but I’m also a college student and I think that gives me a unique perspective. I guess my advice would be that we’re all college students and things happen so don’t be afraid to call for us. We’re here to help you, that’s what we love to do.

What is Spoon University, and what is your favorite part?

Spoon University is an online food publication run by college students! It has a lot of cool recipes and restaurant reviews that are student written and feature student photography. I love food so trying new things and sharing my experience with others is probably my favorite part.

What is your favorite thing about Fordham?

This is such a hard question! I wish I had a more interesting answer but it’s probably the people. I’ve met a lot of people here who’ve helped me grow as a person through my experiences with them and who’ve shown me so much love. Fordham becomes a second home, you know? Everyone here will do that for you.

If you could pick 3 celebrities to be your entourage, who would they be?

John Mayer, Nicki Minaj and Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa’s son. (Sorry Rihanna and Yonce)

What is your spirit animal?

Definitely a cat. I can be super cuddly one second then you really shouldn’t touch me the next. I also just really love cats.

What’s a surprising fact about you?

I hate getting ketchup on my skin. I freak out. I’ll get up and wash my hands and still feel like there’s ketchup on me. My dad used to make a ketchup ring around his fries so I wouldn’t eat them. It’s like pouring salt on a slug.

What is your theme song?

“Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” by John Mayer. It’s my favorite song and I’ve probably made everyone I know listen to it or learn to play it at some point.

What’s your biggest phobia?

Blood, which is totally ironic.

What cheesy pick-up line always makes you laugh?

“I lost my number, can I have yours?”

If you were to get a tattoo, what would it be?

I’m not sure. I think I’m good with body modifications for now but I’d get “where the light is” written somewhere really tiny. It’s a John Mayer reference but also a line that’s full of good vibes so I guess it’s not that basic.

Do you have any advice for your fellow collegiettes?

You’re going to lose friends and people won’t always treat you the way you expect them to but don’t let that get you down. The people you think will be your friends at graduation or years after college may change and that’s okay. Love yourself first, people who love you the way you should be loved will come into your life soon, I promise.
